Description

A bar handle in the early Georgian manner — a single shallow arch on two ornamental trefoil backplates. Weight enough in the hand to feel intended; arch shallow enough to sit unobtrusively under a finger on a drawer; high enough to take a confident grip on a door.

Three centre-to-centre sizes, all metric, all serving the cabinetry grid that UK and US designers actually drill to:

  • 128mm CTC — small drawers and cabinet doors
  • 160mm CTC — medium drawers
  • 224mm CTC — large drawers and base cabinets

Each handle is sand-cast in solid brass at our Birmingham workshop, then filed and finished by hand. The trefoil backplates are integral to the casting — not soldered on — which makes the handle substantially stronger and a touch heavier than a typical period reproduction.

The unlacquered brass finish is the one we recommend for kitchens that will be lived in. It darkens around the most-touched places, and brightens at the edges where a cloth runs.

Dimensions

  • 128mm CTC — overall 158mm, projection 26mm, barrel Ø14mm
  • 160mm CTC — overall 192mm, projection 28mm, barrel Ø15mm
  • 224mm CTC — overall 260mm, projection 32mm, barrel Ø17mm
  • M4 × 25mm screws included; longer fixings available on request
Care & Maintenance

Solid brass is a living material. How to care for each finish depends on which one you have chosen.

Polished Unlacquered Brass — wipe with a dry cotton cloth. That is the entire routine. Avoid Brasso, Bar Keepers Friend, ammonia, bleach, vinegar; all will strip the patina. The metal will darken over months and brighten where touched. This is the point.

Aged Brass — wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Re-wax once every two to three years with natural beeswax.

Satin Brass (lacquered) — wipe with a damp cloth and dry. Avoid solvents and abrasives.
